Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

On motion by Mr. Stephenson, it was

Ordered, That the Committee on Finance be directed to in-
quire into the expediency of requiring non-residents who
come into this State fur the purpose of purchasing articles of
trade to be disposed of beyond the limits thereof, to take out.
license.

The bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 12 and 15 of an
Act passed at January Session, 1867, chapter 298, entitled
an Act to incorporate the Pennsylvania Line Railroad Com-
pany, and to re-enact the same with amendments,

Being upon its second reading, was,
On motion by Mr. Biggs, ordered to lie over and. be printed.

The bill entitled an Act to amend an Act entitled an Act
to incorporate the Parkton and Manchester Railroad Com-
pany, passed at the January Session, 1868,

Being upon its second reading, was, on motion by Mr. Ste-
phenson, ordered to lie over and be printed.

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of Executive
business, and after a time resumed the consideration of Legis-
lative business.

The Senate adjourned.

MONDAY, January 17,1870.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Henderson.
Present at roll call the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Biggs, Carroll, Earle, Fields, Hyland,
Jump, Maddox, Malone, Miller, Sellman, Snyder, Spates.
Stephenson, Timmons, Welch, Wilson—17.

Mr. Biggs presented the petition of A. Z. Kimmel and
100 citizens of Frederick county against a prohibitory liquor
law in the village of New London in said county.

Which was read. and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.
