Mr. Biggs presented the petition of Anthony Kimmel and
52 citizens of Frederick county, praying the passage of a law
prohibiting the sale of intoxicating drinks in the village
of New London in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

The President presented the petition of Mary Beall; ask-
ing for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.
On motion by Mr. Snyder, it was

Ordered, That all Senate bills, relating to Public Gen-
eral Laws, shall be printed and placed upon file previous to
the second reading of such bills.

On motion by Mr. Fields,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to repeal section 9, Article 28, Code
of' Public General Laws authorizing the County Commis-
sioners of the several counties to publish a statement of the
county expenses and re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion by Mr. Maddox,

Leave was granted Senators Maddox, Earle and Welch to
introduce a bill to establish the office of wood corder for
Leonardtown District in St. Mary's county.

On motion by Mr. Carroll,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to remedy and give effect to informal
and invalid deeds and quiet possession thereunder.

On motion by Mr. Spates,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill increasing the per diem and mileage of
the County Commissioners of Allegany county.

On motion by Mr. Spates,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to re-
port a bill incorporating the Potomac and Piedmont Coal and
Railroad Company.

Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, to which
was referred House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Coun-
ty Commissioners of Frederick county to subscribe to the
stock of turnpike companies, reported it without amendment.

Said bill was then read a second time.

Mr. Biggs, from a select committee to which was referred
House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Governor to ap-
