tions of the State, located in Baltimore and vicinity, includ-
ing the State Normal Schools, and report thereon. And
to this proposition we respectfully ask the concurrence of
your Honorable Body. We have appointed on the part of
the Senate, Messrs. Kimmel, Stephenson and Maddox.

Mr. Fields submitted the following amendment :

Amend by adding thereto the following : Provided, That
the members of said Committee shall receive no other com-
pensation for said service other than their travelling ex-
penses.

Mr. Fields withdrew said amendment.

Said message as amended was then read, assented to, and
sent to the House of Delegates.

On motion by Mr. Malone,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill limiting the continuance of liens now
existing in the office of the Clerks of the Circuit Courts of Som-
erset and Worcester counties in the form of mortgages, judg-
ments, decrees, and executions against persons and property
in the county of Wicomico, and providing for the transfer of
the same to the said county of Wicomico.

Mr. Grove moved to take up for consideration the mes-
sage in relation to the National Cemetery at Sharpsburg,
Washington county.

On the question being put it was determined in the affirm-
ative.

The question then recurred upon the adoption of said mes-
sage, and it was determined in the affirmative.

Said message was then read, assented to, and sent to the
House of Delegates.

Mr. Clarke submitted the following message :

BY THE SENATE,

Jan'y 13,1870.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message respecting the proper in-
terment of the Confederate dead at Antietam and Gettysburg,
and respectfully concur therein; and have named on the part
of the Senate, Messrs. Clarke, Hyland and Carroll.
