Mr. Henkle submitted the following message :

BY THE SENATE,
January 11,1870.

Gentlemen of the Souse of Delegates:

We have received the message from your Honorable Body
proposing to go into the election of a State Treasurer, on
Thursday next, at 12 o'clock, M., and concur therein.

By order,
AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,
Secretary.

Mr. Earle submitted the allowing amendment :
Strike out Thursday and insert Tuesday, the 18th instant.
Pending the consideration of said amendment,
The Senate adjourned.

WEDNESDAY, January 12,1870.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Southgate.
Present at roll call the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Biggs, Browne, Carroll, Clarke, Denson,
Earle, Fields, Henkle, Henry, Hyland, Jump, Maddox,
Sellman, Snyder, Spates, Stephenson, Timmons, Welch,
Wilson-20.

A. R. Boteler, elected Folder, and W. F. J. Henry ap-
pointed Police for the Rotunda, appeared, qualified and enter-
ed. upon the discharge of their duties.

The Senate resumed the consideration of the unfinished busi-
ness of yesterday, being the message submitted by Senator
Henkle in relation to the election of State Treasurer.

The question being on the adoption of the following amend-
ment submitted by Senator Earle, strike out the word.
Thursday and insert the words "Tuesday, the 18th in-
stantly."

The President declared the amendment of Mr. Earle to be
out of order.

Mr. Snyder submitted the following amendment to said
