Mr. Clarke submitted the following order :

Ordered, That each Senator of this Body be taxed fifty
cents per week to employ an assistant to the Janitor, in
cleaning up the Senate Chamber and Committee rooms.

On the question being put,

It was determined in the negative, by yeas and nays, as
follows:

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to amend an Act incorpora-
ting the Parkton and Manchester Railroad Company,chap-
ter 227, passed at the January session, 1868.

On motion by Mr. Maddox,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to repeal Article 40 of the Code of
Public General Laws, entitled Fines and Forfeitures, and re-
enact the same, with amendments.

On motion by Mr. Browne,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to prohibit the sale of intoxicating
liquors within half a mile of the Carroll County Agricultural
Society's grounds during their exhibitions, except to the
hotels, restaurants and store-keepers in Westminster.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing Message:
