Committee on Contingent Expenses of the Senate.—Messrs.

Mr. Snyder presented the petition of Mary Jones, asking
for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. Snyder presented the memorial of the President and
Directors of the International Immigrant Union, asking an
appropriation to be made to aid in meeting the current ex-
penses of the year.

Which was read and. referred, to the Committee on Labor
and Immigration.

Mr. Denson submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on Claims
of the House of Delegates be directed to issue his certificate
in favor of Thomas A. Mitchell for eight days' attendance as
police and keeper of the Rotunda) and such other officers as
have been in attendance.

The President declined to entertain said order, it being in
conflict with the provisions of the Act of 1868, chap. 61.

Mr. Maddox submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the President of the Senate be requested, to
appoint some suitable person to assist the Janitor in cleaning
up and keeping in proper condition the Senate Chamber and
