The President then appointed Senator Wilson as the addi-
tional member of said Committee.

Samuel Davis, appointed. Janitor) appeared, qualified and.
entered upon the discharge of his duty.

On motion by Mr. Clarke, the Senate adjourned.

TUESDAY, January 11,1870.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Southgate.
Present at roll call the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Biggs, Browne, Carroll, Clarke, Den-
son, Earle, Fields, Grove, Henry, Hyland., Jump, 'Kimmel,
Maddox, Malone, Miller, Sellman, Snyder, Spates, Stephen-
son, Timmons, Welch, Wilson—23.

Sylvester J. Costigan, Post Master, John Williams, Door
Keeper, and G. Carmack, Committee Clerk, appeared, quali-
fied and entered upon the discharge of their duties.

The President announced the following Standing Commit-
tees of the Senate:

Committee on Labor and Immigration.—Messrs. Kimmell,
Carroll, Clarke, Jump, Biggs.

Committee on Finance.—Messrs. Earle, Henry, Henkle,
Stephenson, Spates.

Committee on Judicial Proceedings.—Messrs. Miller, Kim- .
mell, Maddox, Grove, Henry.

Committee on Internal Improvements.—Messrs. Henkle,
Fields, Clarke, Spates, Wilson.

Committee on Federal Relations.—Messrs. Grove, Snyder,
Carroll, Maddox, Earle.

Committee on Insolvent Laws.—Messrs. Welch, Stephenson,
Carroll, Malone, Timmons.

Committee on Elections.—Messrs. Maddox, Sellman, Parker,
Earle, Jump.

Committee, on Invalid Deeds and Defective Proceedings.—
Messrs. Malone, Browne, Miller, Clarke, Sellman.

Committee on Revolutionary Claims.—Messrs. Hyland,
Denson, Parker, Malone, Sellman.

Committee on the Militia.—Messrs. Carroll, Henkle, Tim-
