securities on the bond of John Palmer, Collector of State
and county taxes in the 3rd election district of Queen Anne's
county, for the year 1866, from the payment of interest on
State tax levied on said district for said year 1866.

Mr. Merrick, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably, the Senate bill, entitled an Act to
refund Alexander Brown & Sons, of the city of Baltimore,
Agent of Brown, Shipley & Co., of London, the sum of-
fifty-eight pounds, sixteen shillings and ten pence, in gold,
amounting in currency to four hundred dollars and ninety
cents, for money erroneously paid by them into the Treasury
on or about the 1st of July, 1867.

Mr. Crawford, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably, a bill entitled, an Act to extend the jurisdiction of
Justices of the Peace for Wicomico county, to cases of assault
and battery.

Mr. Harris, Chairman of a, Select Committee, reported
favorably, a bill entitled an Act to authorize the Governor to
appoint an additional Justice of the Peace for election dis-
trict No. 11, in Frederick county.

The bill entitled an Act, granting the assent of the Gene-
ral Assembly of Maryland to a bequest of a legacy made in
last will and testament of Josias Ramsey, late of Cecil coun-
ty, deceased, to the Trustees of the Methodist Protestant
Church at New Leeds, in Cecil county,
Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 295, Act of
Assembly 1868, entitled "An Act to amend Article 4, of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title 'Guano,' " by adding
thereto the following section relating to the inspection of all
fertilizers other than guano, and to substitute the following
in lieu thereof,
