144 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 26,

Mr. Brattan submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Hon.
Samuel K. Dennis is detained from his seat in this House
on account of severe sickness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Lankford submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Hon.
John R. Purnell is detained from his seat on account of sick-
ness in his family.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Touchstone,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill to incorporate the Cecil Fire Brick Company.

On motion of Mr. Woolford,

Leave was granted to the Dorchester delegation to report
a bill repealing and re-enacting with amendments, the Pub-
lic Local Laws of Dorchester county, relating to Almshouse
in said county.

On motion of Mr. Brattan,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill requiring William Stewart, Administrator and
Trustee, to sell the real estate of Isaac Stewart, late of Som-
erset county, deceased, to pay over a certain balance in his
hands to Ann Stewart.

On motion of Mr. Watkins.

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to enable aliens to inherit property in Mont-
gomery county.

On motion of Mr. Owens,

Leave was granted to the Cecil delegation to introduce a
bill granting the assent of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, to the bequest of a legacy made in the last will and
testament of Elizabeth A, McMains, late of Cecil county,
deceased, to the Trustees of the lower West Nottingham
Presbyterian Church, in Cecil county.

On motion of Mr. Woolford,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Roads and High-
ways to introduce a bill removing all gates on the Public
Roads in Dorchester county, and on all Public Roads divid-
ing Dorchester from other counties.

On motion of Mr. Markland,
