Which was read a first time, and

Om motion of Mr. Blake,

Was referred to the Baltimore city delegation.

Mr. Neill, from the Committee on the Judiciary, to-
whom was referred the bill entitled an Act to authorize-
the Commissioners of Calvert county to subscribe in be-
half of said" county to the capital stock of the Baltimore and
Drum Point Railroad Company, and issue bonds for the
same and provide for their redemption, reported back the
same, and asked that the bill be recommitted to the^Calvert
delegation and Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel.

The bill was so referred.

Mr. Hardcastle, of Talbot, Chairman of the Select Com-
mittee on county expenses, reported favorably,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 1 and 4,
of chapter 31, of the Code of Public General Laws, passed
January session, 1865, and to repeal sections 1 and 2, of
chapter 440, of the law passed by the Legislature of Mary-
land, 1868, in relation to the publication of General Laws,
and re-enact a section to provide for the uniform price for
publishing the Public General Laws, with proposed amend-
ments :

AMENDMENTS PEOPOSBD.

Section 3, line 5, after the word <{one," insert: or more.

Section 3, line 6, after the word "county," insert: but
when there are two papers published in a county, the print-
ing may be divided between them, that is to say, the laws,
originating in the House may be sent for publication to one
paper, and the laws originating in the Senate, may be sent
to another paper in the same county.

^Strike out all after "papers" in section 3,line 11, to end of
section.

Section 4. Be it enacted, That each newspaper of the city
and counties respectively, which shall publish the laws as
herein provided, shall file one copy of their papers with the
Comptroller of the Treasury, and the Boards of County Com-
missioners of the counties, and in paying for such publications
the Comptroller and Commissioners shall see that the charge,
conform to the published rates, that brevier type is the stand-
ard of estimation, and that 10 per centum is deducted from
the gross amount of charges for said publication, and they
are hereby directed and required to pay only such amounts,
as shall be in accordance with the pro-visions of this Act, and
the Treasurer upon warrant of the Comptroller, is hereby
authorized to pay for the publication of the General Laws aa
herein provided, within six months after said publication.
