Mr. Chapman submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on Claims
be directed to issue his warrant, payable to James P. Mat-
thews, correspondent of the Baltimore American, for one
hundred dollars, and that the Librarian furnish him station-
ery to the amount of ten dollars.

Which was adopted.,

Mr. Merrick, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported unfavorably,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to provide a suitable portrait of the late Governor,
Thomas G. Pratt, to be placed in the Executive Chamber.

The unfavorable report was adopted.
Also, reported unfavorably,

The House bill entitled an Act to provide for the removal
of the State Hay Scales located in the eastern section of Balti-
more city, near the intersection of O'Donnell street with the

"western boundary of Baltimore county, to a more desirable
location.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Colton, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, re*
ported favorably, without amendment.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to pay M. A. Newell the
sum of six hundred and twenty dollars for clerical assistance
hired by him to aid in preparing two annual reports upon
the condition of the Public Schools of the State.

Which was read a second time.

Mr. Neill, from the Committee on the Judiciary, reported
favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to amend the 6th Article of the
Public General Laws, relating to appeals from Courts of Law
and Equity, by allowing exceptions on both Bides to be sent
up with the record and decided by the Court of Appeals.

Which was read a first time.

Also, a bill entitled an Act to amend Article 36, of the
Code of Public General Lawa, entitled "Estrays' by add-
ing additional sections thereto.

Which was read a first time.

Also, a bill entitled an Act to repeal the 13th section of
Article 18, of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Clerks
of Courts," and to re-enact the same with amendments.
