So the amendment was rejected.

Mr. Neill submitted the following amendment :

Section 7, line 1, strike out all after the word "effect" and
insert: when the said Trustees, shall first give bond in the
penal sum of nine hundred thousand dollars for the faithful
performance of the trust hereby confided to them, and for
the payment of the ten per cent, of the gross amount received
of said Canal,

Which was adopted.

Mr. Wiley moved that the House do now adjourn.

The bill as amended was then read a second time, and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.
