county, and to re-enact the same with amendments, without
amendments.

Which was read a second time.

Mr. Martin, Chairman of the Select Committee on State
Tobacco Warehouses, (the rules being suspended,) to whom
was recommitted,

The bill entitled an Act to repeal section 535, Article 4,
Code of Public Local Laws for the City of Baltimore, sub-
title "Tobacco," and to enact a substitute therefor, reported
the same with proposed amendment.

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Amend section 535 by inserting after word "shall," in
line 11, the words : be construed.

Which was adopted.

And the bill, as amended, read a second time and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Merrick, Chairman On the part of the House of the
Committee on Conference, to whom was referred the follow-
ing bills :

The bill entitled an Act for the relief of John H. B. La-
trobe, and authorizing the Appeal Tax Court of Baltimore
city to correct errors in the assessment of his property in Bal-
timore city.

Also,

The bill entitled, an Act for the relief of Miss Margaret H.
Armstrong, of Baltimore county,

Reported back the same, and asked that the Committee be
discharged from the further consideration thereof.

The report was accapted, and the Committee discharged.

The bill entitled an Act to confirm an Act passed by the
General Assembly of Virginia, entitled an Act to incorporate
the Shenandoah Valley Railroad Company, passed February
23, 1867 ; also, to confirm an Act passed fey the Legislature
of West Virginia, entitled an Act to authorize the Shenan-
doah Valley Railroad Company to construct their road
through the State of West Virginia to the Potomac river,
passed February 25,1870, and to authorize the said Company
to extend their road across the Potomac river and to Hagers-
town, in Washington county, in this State.

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Neill submitted the following amendment:
