Act to incorporate the White Hall and Pennsylvania Line
Railroad Company, reported the same with proposed amend-
ment.

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

SECTION 12. And be it enacted, That the power of the Presi-
dent and Directors relative to the purchase, acquisition and
condemnation of land and materials for the construction and
repair and alterative of said road, shall be the same as those
conferred upon the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Com-
pany, by an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland, en-
titled an Act to incorporate the Baltimore and Potomac Rail-
read Company, passed in the year 1867.

Which was adopted,

And the bill, as amended, read a second time and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Merrick, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, (the rules being suspended,) reported favorably,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to amend Article 81, of the
Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Revenue and Taxes,"
by adding sub-sections 5, 6, 7 and 8 to section 34 of Article
81, and relating to the appointment of Collectors and collec-
tions of taxes, with proposed amendments.

The amendments were severally read and adopted,
And the bill, as amended, read a second time.

Also,

The bill entitled an Act to assess and collect taxes on the
property of the several railroad corporations chartered by the
State of Maryland, without amendments.

Which was read a second time.
Also,

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Comptroller to
pay over to the School Commissioners of Howard county the
arrearages due from the Academic fund, and to pay annually
to said county the amounts due from such fund, without
amendments.

Which was read a second time.
Also reported unfavorably,

The House bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to pay Duncan McPherson for services rendered the
State in equipping and uniforming the militia.

The unfavorable report was adopted.
