lowing preamble and order:

WHEREAS, There are various rumors in circulation serious-
ly affecting the reputation of the Post Office department of
this House, therefore be it

Ordered, That the Committee on Claims be requested to
investigate the same, and report what action, if any, is,
necessary.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Purnell moved that the House do now take a recess
until 7 1/2 o'clock, this P. M., and that bills entitled to a third
reading be then considered.

On motion of Mr. Gorman,

A division of the question was ordered.

The question then recurring upon the first division thereof.

It was decided in the affirmative,
