The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill enti-
tled an Act to repeal and re-enact with amendments, sections
12 and 14, of Article 41, Code of Public General Laws, title
"Fish and Fisheries," sub-title "Potomac," and to add ad-
ditional sections thereto, for the further protection of fish,
and regulation of the shad and herring fisheries in said river.
Said bill being upon a third reading.
The bill was then read a third time and passed by yeas and

On motion of Mr. Hammond,
The House then proceeded to the consideration of the order
of the day, being the bill entitled an Act to repeal an Act
passed at the session of 1868, entitled "Public Education,"
providing a general system of Free Public Schools for the State
of Maryland, and to repeal all laws inconsistent therewith,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.
Mr. Richards submitted the following amendment:
Chapter VII., title "Schools," section 2, line 4, strike out
the word "six," and insert the word fire.
Which was rejected.
