Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judici-
ary to introduce a bill to so amend Article 47, chapter 17,
of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Inheritances," as
to provide that the real estate of any person dying intestate,
and leaving no descendants, shall descend to the father or
mother of the intestate in all cases before collateral relations.
Also,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judici-
ary to introduce a bill to repeal and re-enact with amend-
ments, section 9, Article 30, Code of Public General Laws,
title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "Jurisdiction,"
extending the jurisdiction of Justices of the Peace in criminal
matters.
On motion of Mr. Marbury, (the rules being suspended,)
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill adding an additional section to Article 36 of
the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Estrays," provi-
ding for the sale of animals taken damage feasant.
Mr. Woolford, (the rules being suspended,) presented the
petition of Caleb Shepherd and 70 other citizens of the towa
of Cambridge, in Dorchester county, protesting against the
passage of the Senate bill entitled an Act for the relief of the
Cambridge Harbor Internal Navigation and Wharf Com-
pany.
Which was read and referred to the Dorchester delegation.
On motion of Mr.'Baldwin, of Anne Arundel,
The House proceeded to the consideration of the unfinished
business of the morning, being the bill entitled an Act to
prevent the increase of gates upon the public roads of Anne
Arundel, Prince George's and Charles counties.
Said bill being upon a second,reading.
The bill was then read a second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.
On motion of Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel,
Leave was granted to the Committee oa Claims to introduce
a bill to appropriate a sum of money to pay John Hopkins
for services rendered and materials furnished in painting the
Governor's Mansion.
On motion of Mr. Veitch,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill to repeal section 12 of Article 75, Code of Pub-
lic General Laws, title, "Pleading,PracticeandProcess," sub-
title, " Pleading," and re-enact the same with amendments.
