The Statewide Residential Public High School
Board of Planning Overseers was appointed by the
Governor in October 1987 to develop plans for a
residential public high school with a math/science
concentration. The Board concluded its work in
June 1988.

RETAIL SECURITY TASK FORCE

The Governor formed the Retail Security Task
Force in September 1987. The Task Force charge
was to determine the need for legislation requiring
installation of security devices and equipment at
twenty-four hour retail establishments, such as ser-
vice stations, convenience stores, and restaurants.
The Task Force also evaluated the scope of such
legislation, its specificity with regard to particular
security devices and equipment, and its effects on
service to the public.

The Task Force submitted a final report to the
Governor in October 1988.

The Task Force on School Construction Finance
was established by the Board of Public Works on
July 25,1987. Its purpose was to reassess State and
local sharing of the costs for new school construc-
tion and renovation of existing facilities and to
recommend a more realistic cost sharing proposal.
The Task Force submitted its final report on No-
vember 10,1987.

The Governor's Task Force on Self-Insurance
was created by the Governor in May 1987. The Task
Force examined the effectiveness of self-insurance
as an alternative to traditional insurance require-
ments. The Task Force considered the proper State
response to ensure viable and efficient self-insurance
programs, including administrative or legislative
reforms; the feasibility and appropriateness of
centrally administering all self-insurance programs;
and criteria for evaluating self-insurance programs.
A final report was submitted to the Governor on
February 26,1988.
