The Maryland Veterans Commission was autho-
rized by Chapter 504, Acts of 1973, to acquire sites
for cemeteries for Maryland veterans honorably
discharged from the Armed Forces of the United
States, and the members of their immediate fami-
lies. Funds appropriated were authorized by Chap-
ter 775, Acts of 1974, to be used for the
development of cemeteries rather than the acquisi-
tion of sites, since State land was to be used. The
Commission supervises, maintains, and controls
such cemeteries established. The Program Manag-
er supervises the development of the cemeteries
and establishes procedures for the administration
of the program. The five veterans' cemeteries
located in Maryland are in Allegany, Anne Arun-
del, Baltimore, Dorchester, and Prince George's
counties (Code State Government Article, secs.
9-913 through 9-914).

interred. Of this number, 346 have been identified.
The Board of Trustees was chartered by Chapter
