The Maryland Committee on Federal Income
Tax Conformity was created by the Governor in
1982. The Committee compiled the latest avail-
able estimates on direct State revenue reductions
which would result from federal tax changes. It
analyzed alternative measures for producing reve-
nues to make up for any such revenue reductions
should these measures be necessary. The Commit-
tee also was charged with analyzing certain pro-
posed State tax policies and their effects.
The Committee reported to the Governor and
General Assembly in January 1983.
