Preston Street, Baltimore 21201 Telephone: 383-2723 This Administration conducts programs directed towards the prob- lems of aging and the prevention and care of chronic illness among adults. Preventative programs include the early detection and treat- ment of cancer, diabetes, hypertension, etc., and the prevention of dis- eases related to occupation. Hospital level care is provided for pa- tients in need of rehabilitation services, and for those afflicted with chronic illnesses. A limited number of beds are maintained in some health centers to provide Skilled and Intermediate A type nursing home services for selected patients. DEER'S HEAD CENTER Allen Dennis, Medical Facility Administrator Salisbury (Wicomico County) 21801 Telephone: 742-2164 Deer's Head Center, authorized by Chapter 994, Acts of 1945, was established in 1950 and has facilities for 282 patients. It is the regional facility for patients in need of care and treatment for chronic diseases, or in need of rehabilitation services. Appropriations 1973 1974 General Funds . $2,938,293 $2,911,666 Staff: 1973, 297; Staff: 1974, 294. PINE BLUFF CENTER Allen Dennis, Director Pine Bluff Center is operated as a 40 bed Intermediate A nursing home type facility, as an integral part of Deer's Head Center. MONTEBELLO CENTER Solomon Gladstein, Medical Facility Administrator 2201 Argonne Drive, Baltimore 21218 Telephone: 889-3080 Montebello Center, authorized by Chapter 412, Acts of 1951, opened in 1953 as the principal unit of the Chronic Disease Hospital System. Its principal emphasis is on rehabilitation. Its licensed bed capacity is 245. Appropriations 1973 1974 General Funds.. . . $4,645,009 $4,896,132 Staff: 1973, 413; Staff: 1974, 412. |
