Department of Budget and Fiscal Planning State Treasury Building, Annapolis 21404 Telephone :267-1114 The Governor appointed the members of the Task Force on Fleet Management by Executive Order in 1971 to develop a plan to improve the management of the motor vehicle fleet of the State and to recom- mend methods for implementing the plan. The Task Force consists of representatives of many executive departments. The group is exploring the criteria for assigning State vehicles to individual employees or officials, terms and conditions of use, the desirability of establishing motor pools, the types of vehicles to be purchased, the method of pro- curement, fleet management principles, maintenance and repair, and total cost factors. The Task Force will consider any additional matters as may be necessary to achieve its objectives. A Fleet Management Information System, making use of Electronic Data Processing equipment, is in the process of being implemented to provide information necessary to better utilize the State Automobile Fleet. An Auto Mechanics Training Program, a Vocational Education Project is being developed by the Division of Corrections for the pur- poses of rehabilitation. This is being developed through the cooperation of the Division of Correction, the State Highway Administration, the Maryland State Police, and the University of Maryland. |
