The Employment Agency Advisory Board, established by Chapter
431, Acts of 1969, consists of seven members appointed by the Com-
missioner of Labor and Industry with the approval of the Secretary
of Licensing .and Regulation for four-year terms. Three members rep-
resent employment agencies, while four represent the general public.
The Secretary of Licensing and Regulation designates one of the
public members to serve as the Chairman.
The Board assists the Commissioner of Labor and Industry in the
formulation of rules and regulations applying to the licensing, regula-
tion and inspection of private, fee-charging employment agencies,
including theatrical agencies which operate in Maryland (Code 1957,
1968 Repl. Vol., 1970 Supp., Art. 56, sees. 161-170).
Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Board
Chairman: Lawrence F. Maynard, 1973
Ex officio member: Henry Miller, Commissioner of Labor and
Industry.
Members representing industry: J. Melvin Schemm, 1973; Leonard
Wozny, 1976.
Members representing labor: G. William Bursick, 1973; Walter
Schmidt, 1976,
Members representing the health professions: Edward P. Rad-
ford, M.D., 1974; Arthur T. Hall, M.D., 1977.

The Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Board, originally
established by Chapter 44, Acts of 1965, as the Occupational Safety
Advisory Board, adopted its present name by Chapter 530, Acts of
1968. The Board consists of seven members all of whom are appointed
by the Commissioner of Labor and Industry with the approval of the
Secretary of Licensing and Regulation for six-year terms. Two of the
appointed members represent industry, two represent labor, two
represent the health professions, and one, who serves as Chairman,
represents the general public. Both of the members representing the
health professions must be recommended by the State Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene. The Commissioner of Labor and Industry
serves as an ex officio member of the Board.
The Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Board formulates and
proposes to the Commissioner of Labor and Industry such reasonable
rules and regulations, or modifications, amendments or repeals of
rules and regulations, for the prevention of accidents and occupational
diseases in every employment or place of employment in Maryland
except those subject to the regulatory authority of the Public Service
Commission (Code 1957, 1969 Repl. Vol., 1970 Supp., Art. 89, sees.
29,31A, and 32).
