Baltimore Street, Baltimore 21202 The Minimum Wage Advisory Committee, established by Chapter 697, Acts of 1965, consists of nine members appointed by the Secretary of Licensing and Regulation with the approval of the Governor for six-year terms. Three of the appointed members are representatives of employers, three are representatives of employees, and three repre- sent the general public. One of the public representatives is desig- nated by the Secretary of Licensing and Regulation as Chairman. The Committee assists the Commissioner of Labor and Industry in the formulation of rules and regulations necessary to implement the State minimum wage law. The Committee must hold public hearings every two years for the purpose of reviewing current regulations and mak- ing recommendations for change with regard to rates, coverage or administrative regulations (Code 1957, 1964 Repl. Rovner, 1972. 203 E, Baltimore Street, Baltimore 21202 The Advisory Council on Prevailing Wage Rates was created by Chapter 558, Acts of 1969, to advise the Commissioner of Labor and Industry ana to submit recommendations to him regarding the estab- lishment of and hourly rates applicable to contracts and subcontracts for public works within the State. The Council consists of six members, all appointed by the Governor by and with the advice of the Secretary of Licensing and Regulation and with the advice and consent of the Senate from among persons recommended by organizations in the respective groups for three-year terms. Two of the members must represent management in the build- ing and construction industry. Two must represent labor in the build- ing and construction industry and two represent the general public. The Council is to establish certain standards for hours of work and rates of pay, conditions of employment, and duties of certain public officials under certain contracts and subcontracts for public works in the State. The Council is also to call upon other agencies of State and local government for statistical data and reports (Code 1967, 1964 Repl. Vol., 1970 Supp., Art. 100, sees. 96-107).
