The Governor originally appointed this Commission in 1962 to draw
up plans for an exhibit and to prepare a budget for Maryland's par-
ticipation in the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair. The original
Commission completed its work and reported to the Governor early
in 1963. At that time, the Governor appointed the members of the
Commission which consists of approximately 650 Maryland citizens.
Members will serve until the end of the New York World's Fair on
October 17, 1965. The Commission's budget is for the construction
and operation of the Maryland pavilion at the Fair.

MARYLAND CUBAN REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT COMMITTEE

The Governor appointed this special Committee in 1963 to assist in
the relocation of the many thousands of Cuban refugees who have
settled in Florida after fleeing Cuba. This Committee will coordinate
activities in the State with those already undertaken by national
voluntary agencies engaged in resettlement work. It will also encour-
age the establishment of local resettlement committees within Mary-
land to coordinate the activities of such local groups.
