MARYLAND MANUAL 187

The Governor appointed this Council in 1963 as a part of the pro-
gram carried out by the Federal government to aid American business
to increase their overseas sales or to consider the desirability of
entering foreign markets in an effort to expand U. S. exports. The
Council is composed of business representatives and officials of the
Economic Development Commissions of the State, Baltimore City and
Baltimore County. The Council will advise business and industry in
Maryland of the many benefits to be derived from an increased
export program.

PATAPSCO LAND ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Chairman: Charles M. Bandiere

Jr., Mrs. Jesse Hakes, H. Lee Hoffman, H. C. Jefferson,

The Governor appointed the Patapsco Land Advisory Committee in
1951. It consists of sixteen members, six representing the State, two
representing Baltimore City, and two representing each of the four
counties in which the park is situated. The Committee advises the
Department of Forests and Parks in the acquisition of land for the
Patapsco State Park.

PERMANENT COMMISSION ON MUNICIPAL COURTS

The Governor appointed this twenty-nine-man Commission in 1959
to study the Municipal Court System of Baltimore City.

RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AND
CONSERVATION COMMITTEE

Chairman: Robert L. Green

S. Lawrence Hammerman, Joseph H. Manning, Harry H.
Rieck, Sr., Lathrop B. Smith.

University of Maryland, College Park

The Governor appointed this Committee in 1962 to help develop a
coordinated program of resources development and conservation. The
Committee is continuing its studies.

SLOT MACHINE STUDY COMMITTEE

Chairman: Richard W. Emory

P. D. Brown, William Aleck Loker, Paul E. Nystrom, Henry
J. Tarantino, George J. Weems, Charles W. Woodward, Jr.

The Governor appointed this Committee in 1962 to recommend pro-
cedures designed to remove slot machines from those counties where
they are now legal with the least possible damage to the economy of
those counties. The Committee completed its work with the enact-
ment of Chapter 617, Acts of 1963.
