At the request of the General Assembly the Governor appointed
this Commission in 1959 to study city-county fiscal relationships. The
Commission consists of thirteen members appointed as follows: the
Maryland Municipal League nominated four; the County Commis-
sioners Association nominated four; the President of the Senate
nominated two from among the members of the Senate; the Speaker
of the House of Delegates nominated two from among the members
of the House of Delegates; and the Governor appointed one member
of this own selection, who became chairman (J. R. No. 27, Acts of
1959).

The Governor appointed this ten-member study commission in 1962
in response to a request of the General Assembly. The State members
were appointed by the Governor; the county members were appointed
by the Governor upon the recommendation of the Maryland County
Commissioners Association; the Baltimore City representative was
appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of the Mayor of
Baltimore; and the municipal members appointed by the Governor
upon the recommendation of the Maryland Municipal League. This
special commission is to investigate the whole field of state-county
fiscal relationships and interrelationships and to study a possible revi-
sion of the entire tax structure of the State. The Commission is to
report to the General Assembly (J. R. No. I, Acts of 1962).

The Governor appointed this Commission in 1962 at the request of
the General Assembly, to ascertain whether or not the adoption of
the Uniform Food and Drug Law would be in the best interests of
the people of Maryland. The Commission consists of the Commissioner
of Health, the Chief of the Division of Drug Control, the Chief of the
Division of Food Control, and representatives of the medical profes-
sion and the pharmaceutical industry (J. R. No. 13, Acts of 1962).
