COMMISSION TO STUDY THE COSMETOLOGY LAWS
OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND

At the request of the General Assembly, the Governor appointed
this Commission in 1963 to study and analyze the working operation
and laws of the cosmetology profession. The Commission is to report
to the 1964 Session of the General Assembly (Res. No. 29, Acts of
1968).

The Governor appointed this special Commission in 1963 in response
to the growing concern regarding the constantly increasing cost of
hospital services to the citizens of Maryland. The purpose of the
Commission is to examine all factors attributing to the rising cost of
hospital services and to submit recommendations to change this trend
without affecting the quality of medical care given in our hospitals.
The Budget Bureau, the State Planning Department, the State Fiscal
Research Bureau, the State Department of Insurance, the State Health
Department, and all State hospitals are cooperating in the survey.
The Commission is to report to the Governor at a later date.

OF THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE
"STAR SPANGLED BANNER"

Carling Brewing Company, Halethorpe

At the request of the General Assembly, the Governor appointed
this Commission is 1963 to study the possible methods of State recog-
nition of the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the writing of
the Star Spangled Banner and the battles of North Point and Fort
McHenry. The resolution further asked that a week be dedicated to
the anniversary celebration and the scheduling of appropriate cere-
monies (J. R. No. 10, Acts of 1963).
