The Governor appointed this Commission in 1961 at the request of
the House of Delegates to ascertain whether the State might become
a self-insurer with respect to much of the insurance now carried by
the State on its properties. The Commission is to submit its recom-
mendations and findings to the 1962 Session of the General Assembly
(House Resolution No. 54, 1961).

The Governor appointed this special commission in 1961 at the
request of the Legislative Council to study the possibilities for
improving the equipment and facilities at Friendship Airport in order
to meet the competition from Chantilly Airport when it is completed
and open for business (Item No. 119, Legislative Council, agenda,
1961).

The Governor appointed this Commission in 1960 at the request of
the General Assembly, to study and report on the problems of
illegitimacy among the recipients of public welfare monies in the
program for aid to dependent children. The Commission reported to
the Governor and the Legislative Council on October 1, 1960 (J. R.
No. 2, Acts of 1960).
