The General Assembly of 1961 requested the Governor to appoint
this Commission to conduct a study of Maryland's forest resources
and to make recommendations as to their best possible use. The
Commission is to submit its report to the Governor and the General
Assembly no later than October 1, 1961 (J. R. No. 44, Acts of 1961).

At the request of the General Assembly, the Governor appointed
this Commission in 1959 to study the migratory bird laws of Mary-
land with the view of recodifying them, and correlating them with
Federal laws and regulations. The Commission is composed of a mem-
ber of the General Assembly, the Director of the Game and Inland
Fish Commission, a representative of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, and one representative of the following organizations: The
Associated Sportsmen's Club of the Eastern Shore; the Central As-
sociation of Sportsmen's Clubs; and the Western Association of
Sportsmen's Clubs. The Committee completed its work, but at the
request of the General Assembly of 1961, the Governor reappointed
it as an advisory committee to the Game and Inland Fish Commis-
sion (J. R. No. 34, Acts of 1969; J. R. No. 41, Acts of 1961).

At the request of the General Assembly, the Governor appointed
this Commission in 1961 to conduct a thorough analysis and study
of the overall problem of physical fitness training of young men
and women in the State of Maryland, to investigate and evaluate the
policy of the State Board of Education with regard to physical fit-
ness training in the public school system and the encouragement of
high school athletics, to establish a liaison with the National Council
of Physical Fitness and to make specific recommendations for a
physical fitness program in the State of Maryland. The Commission
is to report to the Governor, the General Assembly, and the State
Board of Education no later than January 30, 1962 (J. R. No. 49, Acts
of 1961).
