COUNCIL ON MEDICAL CARE

Board of Health; Alan M. Chesney, M.D., The Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine; J. Edmund Bradley, M.D.,
The University of Maryland School of Medicine; Harvey
Weiss, Maryland-D.C.-Delaware Hospital Association; Thomas
J. S. Waxter, State Department of Public Welfare; George
Hardy, D.D.S., Maryland State Dental Association; Ethel
Turner, R.N., Maryland State Nurses Association; Isadore
Tuerk, M.D,, Acting Commissioner of Mental Hygiene; Walter
E. Albrecht, Maryland Pharmaceutical Association; Douglass
Shepperd, M.D., Maryland Medical Association.
The Council on Medical Care was established in 1945 and is com-
posed of 13 members chosen for two-year terms as follows: two
appointed by the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty; two appointed by
the State Board of Health, one of whom is a representative of the
State Department of Health; one member each from the faculties
of the medical schools of the University of Maryland and The Johns
Hopkins University, named by the governing body of the respective
medical schools; one Maryland hospital administrator named by the
Maryland-District of Columbia Hospital Association; one member
of the State Dental Association named by its governing body; one
nurse appointed by the directors of the State Nurses Association;
one member appointed by the executive board of the Maryland Medical
Association; one member appointed by the governing body of the
Maryland Pharmaceutical Association; the Commissioner of Mental
Hygiene; and the Director of the State Department of Welfare. The
Council advises the State Board of Health in the formulation of
policies for the administration of the State's medical care programs:
County Medical Care Program; City Medical Care Program; Hos-
pital Inpatient Program; Hospital Outpatient Programs, City and
County (Code 1957, Art. 43, sec. 42c).
