location. The college offers a four-year teacher preparation course
leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science. Students taking the full
four-year course pay no tuition if they promise to teach in the public
schools of Maryland upon graduation. The enrollment for 1958-59
was 317.

COPPIN STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE

The Board of School Commissioners of Baltimore City established
the State Teachers College of Baltimore (Coppin) and operated it until
the State assumed control in 1960. The school provides a four-year
curriculum for the training of elementary school teachers and grants
the degree of Bachelor of Science. The enrollment of the school for
the 1958-69 year was 347.

FROSTBURG STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE

The State Teachers College at Frostburg was founded in 1898 as a
normal school to prepare elementary teachers for Western Maryland
schools; it became a full four-year college in 1934. The College offers
both a two-year junior college course ana a standard four-year course
leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science. In addition, the College
offers, in cooperation with Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, a pro-
gram in nurses' training. The College was authorized by the Board of
Trustees of the State Teachers Colleges on February 26, 1958, to offer
graduate work leading to the degree of Master of Education Students
enrolling in the teacher education program pay no tuition, but pledge
to teach two years in the public schools of Maryland following their
graduation. The approximate enrollment for 1958-59 was 705.
