there be expended more than shall be apportioned to that dis-
trict for that year.

SHERIFF.

127. The sheriff of said county, shall be entitled to twenty-
five cents a day for keeping and boarding each prisoner com-
mitted to the jail of said county.

SNOW HILL.

128. The inhabitants of Snow Hill", in Worcester county, are
a body corporate, by the name of " The Commissioners of Snow
Hill," and by that name may sue and be sued, and may have and
use a common seal.

129. The said commissioners shall be ten in number, and they
shall hold their offices for five years from the time of their elec-
tion, and the two oldest in time of service of said commissioners
shall go out of office on the day of each annual election.

130. The free white male inhabitants of said town above the
age of twenty-one years who have resided therein one year next
preceding the election, and all persons who have property in
said town in possession of the value of thirty dollars, and all free
•white male persons above the age of twenty-one years not re-
siding in said town but having a freehold estate or leasehold pro-
perty for a term exceeding twenty-one years, shall annually, on
such day as shall be appointed by the commissioners, elect by
ballot two persons residing in said town, or within three miles
thereof, and possessed of landed property therein in their own
right or in right of their wives, of the value of one hundred dol-
lars, to be commissioners in the place of the commissioners
whose term of office has expired.

131. If any vacancy shall happen in the office of one or more
of the commissioners, by death, resignation, removal or other-
wise, the remaining commissioners shall, after ten days' notice,
cause an election to be held at such place in said town as they
shall appoint, of one or more persons resident -and qualified as
aforesaid to supply such vacancy for the remainder of the term,
and all persons qualified to vote at a regular may vote at such
special election.
