117*. The board of primary education in Worcester county
shall purchase, have built, or rent a school house for each school
district, and they shall have power to condemn any land, not
exceeding one acre in extent, which they may deem neces-
sary for the purpose of erecting a school house in any school
district.

118. They shall, every sixth year, divide the county into five
general districts, and appoint one of their body for each district,
whose duty it shall be to ascertain and report to said board be-
fore the first day of November in the year of their appointment
the number and names of the children in each school district,
(cbmprised in said general districts or divisions,) who are proper
recipients of the charity school fund of said county.

119. The said reports when made, (and the report already
made by them until the expiration of six years from the date
thereof,) when approved by the board, shall be the basis for the
distribution of the annual appropriations for the benefit of the
charity scholars of said county.

120. Each school district in which a school shall be kept for
four months in one year, shall be entitled to the full amount
appropriated to said district, to be paid semi-annually, and a pro
rata proportion for a less time than four months; and in addition
to the regular annual appropriation, if any arrears shall stand
to the credit of any district, by reason of such district's not
having had a school for the prescribed time, the said district
shall be entitled to a pro rata proportion of said arrears,
whenever a school shall be kept in said district for more than
four months.

121. The county commissioners of said county, shall authorize
and direct the agent of the school fund for said county, to pay
all orders of the said board of primary education, semi-annually,
for the purposes of education, building school houses, rent of
school houses, purchase of land for school houses, and contingent
expenses; Provided, the same in the aggregate, shall not exceed
the sum of thirty-five hundred dollars in any one year, unless
that sum shall be satisfactorily ascertained by the said board of
education, and reported to the said county commissioners fo be in-
sufficient for the objects and purposes aforesaid, then and in that
case, upon the report and application of said board or said com-
