83. He shall also, before entering upon the discharge of his
duties, execute a bond to the State of Maryland, to be approved
by said commissioners, in the penalty of one thousand dollars,
conditioned for the true and faithful performance of the duties
of his office; which bond shall be recorded in the office of the
clerk of the Circuit Court for said county.
84. In case of a vacancy in said office of clerk, in consequence
of death, resignation, removal, or disqualification, the county
commissioners shall fill said vacancy as soon thereafter as prac-
ticable.
85*. The said clerk shall receive such compensation as the
county commissioners shall think proper to allow, not less than
five hundred dollars per annum.
86. He shall be entitled to twenty-five cents each for making
out and delivering to the sheriff certificates of the appointment
of trustees of the poor.
87. The county commissioners may, in oases of visitations from
cholera or like epidemics in said county, provide for the payment
of all expenses that may occur in procuring temporary hospitals
and the attendance to the poor of said county who shall become
the victims thereof.
COAL.
88. It shall not be lawful to sell or purchase stone coal in said
county by measure, but all stone coal sold and purchased in said
county, shall be sold and purchased by weight, at the rate of
twenty-two hundred and forty-two pounds avoirdupois to the ton.
CKIEB.
89. The crier of the Circuit Court for said county shall be
entitled to two dollars per day for each day he may be employed
as such.
DOORKEEPER.
90. The keepers of the gates or doors within the bar of the
court-house in said county, shall each be entitled to the sum of
one dollar and fifty cents per day for their services, and upon a
certificate from the clerk of the Circuit Court for said county of
the number of days each of them has attended, the collector of
