justice of the peace, for the use of the corporation, as small
debts are.
77. The following shall be the bounds and limits of said town,
viz.: Beginning in the middle of .the turnpike east of the town,
and at a point south nine degrees forty minutes east thirty feet
distant from a stone on the north side of the turnpike, marked
82 M. to B., running first north nine degrees and forty minutes,
west sixty poles to a stone marked number two; second, south
eighty degrees twenty minutes west parallel with the lower end
of the main street of Clearspring two hundred poles to astone
marked number three; thence third, south nine degrees forty
minutes, east one hundred and fifty poles to a stone marked
number four; thence fourth, north eighty degrees twenty minutes,
east two hundred poles to a stone marked number five; thence
fifth, nine degrees forty minutes, west ninety poles to the place
of beginning.
CLEBK.
78. The county commissioners of said county shall not allow
or pay any account for fuel, paper or stationery for the clerk
of the Circuit Court.
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.
79. There shall be five county commissioners for Washington
county.
80. Each commissioner shall be entitled to two dollars a day
for every day he shall necessarily attend to the duties of his
office, and ten cents for each mile over ten miles he may travel
in coming to and going from their place of meeting, once during
each session.
81. They shall, at their annual meetings, appoint a fit person,
a resident of said county, to be their clerk.
82. The said clerk, before entering upon the duties of his office,
shall, before one of said commissioners, take and subscribe the
following oath: " I, A. B., do swear that as clerk to the county
commissioners of Washington county, I will honestly and faith-
fully, to the best of my skill and judgment, execute the duties
of said office, without favor, affection, or prejudice, so help me
God."
