article, and shall be subject to the penalties imposed for such
violation.

145. Any person may appeal from the judgment of the justice
of the peace imposing any fine or imprisonment under the 141st
section of this article to the Circuit Court for the county then
next ensuing, unless there shall not be ten days intervening
between the rendition of the judgment and the sitting of the
said court, in which case the appeal shall stand for trial at the
succeeding session of the court; Provided, the party appealing
shall enter into good and sufficient recognizance before the
justice to prosecute his appeal with effect.

146. Any person arrested under section 143 of this article,
who shall, before the justice before whom he shall be taken,
make oath that he believes that a fair and impartial trial cannot
be had before any justice of the peace of the Tangier district,
may have his case removed to a justice of Dame's Quarter
district.

147. Any person who shall violate the provisions of section
139 of this article, shall also be liable to indictment in the
Circuit Court for Somerset county, and on conviction, shall be
fined or imprisoned, or fined and imprisoned as aforesaid, but no
person shall be twice prosecuted for the same offence.

148. The one-half of all fines imposed under the 141st section
of this article shall go to the informer, and the other half shall
be paid to the treasurer of the schools of said county, and the
officer making the arrest of the party convicted shall be deemed
the informer.

149*. It shall not be lawful for the clerk of the Circuit Court
for Somerset county to issue a license to any person to sell
spirituous liquors in the fourteenth election district, commonly
called Lawson's district, of Somerset county.

150*. It shall not be lawful for any person to sell, with a view
to profit in the way of trade, any spirituous liquors in the said
fourteenth election district, under the penalty of ten dollars for
each offence, to be recovered before any justice of the peace for
the said county, one-half to the use of the informer and the other
half to the commissioners of the county for the use of the free
schools in said county.
