110. They shall draw all orders on the commissioners for the
payment of teachers, and may suspend or dismiss a teacher for
immoral conduct or any other cause, when in their judgment the
interests of the school may require it.

111. They may suspend or dismiss a pupil for immorality, for
continued insubordination or other improper conduct; and they
shall admit no child in any of the public schools, under the ago
of five or over the age of seventeen years, unless in such cases
as in their judgment this rule should be dispensed with.

112. They shall oblige the teacher in each school to keep a
register of the names and ages of all pupils attending the same,
and they shall, on or before the first day of December of each
year, furnish the president of the board of school commissioners
with a statement of the number of pupils, male and female, that
have attended the schools in their respective districts, during
the year ending on the last of November.

113. They shall levy on each parent or guardian of their re-
spective districts, one dollar and fifty cents per quarter for each
child or ward he may have attending said schools, and the
amount so levied may be abated one-fourth by the parent's
showing from the assessment books of the county, that he is
not assessed at three thousand dollars; and three-fourths, if not
assessed at one thousand dollars;' and all guardians shall claim
and have for their wards the abatement allowed to parents; but
this section shall not be so construed as to deny the benefits of
such school to the children of such parents as are not assessed.

114. In default of payment of the sum hereby authorized to
be levied, the said trustees shall have power to sue for and re-
cover the same, in the same manner as small debts are recover-
able, and shall apply the same towards paying the current ex-
penses of the school under their direction.

115. They shall cause at least one public examination of the
pupils in their respective schools, to be held in each year, and
shall give public notice of such examination, and written notice
of the same to each parent or guardian who may have a child
or ward attending such school.

116. The board of school commissioners shall constitute a
board of examiners, whose duty it shall be to examine all per-
