770 QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY. [ART. 17.

taxable inhabitants of the district may select a new site for a
school house and build a school house thereon, and the expense
shall be assessed on the taxable inhabitants of the district.

143.. Whenever a new school house is built under the pro-
visions of the preceding section, the trustees of the district may
sell and convey the old school house in such manner as the tax-
able inhabitants of the district shall determine.

144. The trustees of each school district shall appoint the
teacher therein, but they shall not employ as a teacher, any one
who shall not produce, at the time of his application, the afore-
said certificate from the board of examiners, if there be any one
applying for the school who has such certificate.

14.5. No children shall be admitted into any school under the
age of five years.

146. The trustees of each school district shall annually, in the
month of November, report to the commissioners of the school
fund the condition of their respective school districts, and par-
ticularly the application of the school fund under their direc-
tion.

147. The commissioners of the school fund shall make an
annual report to the Orphans' Court of said county, particularly
setting forth the amount received and disbursed for the use of
the primary schools; and the said report shall, by the order of
said court, be published in.the newspapers in said county.

148. The trustees of primary school district number one, shall
levy on the assessable property of that portion of school district
number six, in Caroline county, which was heretofore united
with primary school district number one, in Queen Anne's
county, the same ratio of taxation levied on the assessable'
property of Queen Anne's county, for the support of primary
schools, and they shall appoint a suitable person to collect
the same, who shall, before he enters upon the discharge of big
duties, file with the said trustees a bond to the State of Maryland,
in the sum of three hundred dollars, approved by said trustees;

and the said collector shall have all the power and authority to
collect the same, as the collector of the State and county taxes
in Caroline county, and shall be allowed six per centum of the
amount collected for his services,
