768 QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY. [ART. 17.

on the district thereof as they may deem sufficient to purchase
a site for a school house, build, keep in repair, and furnish the
same with fuel, books, stationery and appendages; they may at
the same meeting elect a clerk and collector for the district by
ballot, and may repeal, regulate and modify all such proceedings
as they may think proper; but no site of a school house shall be
changed except with a vote of a majority of the taxable inhabit-
ants of the district.

182. Any district meeting may adjourn from time to time aa
they may think proper.

183. The clerk elected by a district meeting shall give bond
to the satisfaction of the trustees, to keep the records and pro-
ceedings of said meeting.

134. He shall keep a record of the proceedings of the district
in a book to be kept for that purpose; shall give notice of all
meetings called by the trustees, and when any district meeting
shall be adjourned for more than one month, he shall give notice
thereof in writing at least ton days before the time appointed
for such meeting, and shall, at the expiration of his term of
office, deliver to his successor all the books and papers of his
office.

135. The collector of a school district shall give bond, with
security to the satisfaction of the trustees, for the faithful dis-
charge of the duties of his office, and shall have the same power
and authority with respect to the school business of the district,
as the collector of county charges, and the collector of county
charges may, if elected, be the collector of any school district.

136. The collector and clerk elected in any district shall hold
their respective offices for one year, and until a new election
shall have been made, and in ease either of said offices shall be
vacated by the refusal to serve, removal out of the district, or
incapacity of such officer, and the vacancy shall not be supplied
by the district at a special or other district meeting within one
month thereafter, the commissioners of the school fund may
supply said vacancy.

137. If any person shall refuse to serve in the office of trustee,
collector or clerk of any school district, he shall forfeit and pay
the sum of five dollars, to be recovered by action in the name
