ing of the taxables of the district, when they may deem such
meeting necessary.
175. They shall judge of the qualifications of teachers, and may
employ and discharge them.
176. They shall repair the school house of their district or
build a new school house, when a majority of the taxables of the
district shall direct the same to be done; and shall furnish the
necessary stationery, books and fuel; and shall pay the clerk
elected as aforesaid, not exceeding fifty dollars per annum.
177. Whenever money is wanted for any of the purposes men-
tioned in the preceding section, tha while male taxable inhabit-
ants of such district, or a majority of them, in a meeting called
for that purpose, shall ascertain the sum necessary to be raised
by taxation, and the trustees of such district shall certify to the
county commissioners the fact that the taxable inhabitants of the
district desire a certain sum, to be stated in such certificate, to be
levied on the personal property of such district.
178. Upon the receipt of such certificate by the county com-
missioners, they shall proceed to levy the sum mentioned, to-
gether with the cost of collection, on the real and personal pro-
perty of such school district, and have the same collected as
county taxes are, and paid over to the trustees of such district.
179. All the white children of a district shall be taught free of
any charge in the school thereof.
180. The trustees may expel any pupil from the school at any
time for immorality, or extraordinary or continued insubordina-
tion, or gross inattention, or other improper conduct.
181. The trustees of the several school districts may receive or
reject scholars residing in other school districts of the county, as
the necessities of their respective districts and justice to children,
residents thereof, may require.
182. The clerk of the Circuit Court for said county shall be
treasurer of the school fund of said county, and the proportion
of the State school fund, payable to said county, shall be paid to
him or his order by the Treasurer of the State.
