by orders on the register of the city, signed by their president;
and shall annually, in the month of April, report to the corpora-
tion of Frederick, the number of pupils in each school, and the
amount of money paid for teachers and incidental expenses, and
shall make an estimate of the probable expenses that will be in-
curred in the next ensuing year.
304. All white minors residing within the taxable limits of the
city, who shall apply to either of the superintendents of free
schools, may be pupils in the schools of their respective school
districts free of charge.
805. The superintendents may admit pupils other than those
provided for in the preceding section, into the said schools, on
such terms and conditions, and the payment of such tuition
money, as they shall think just, and all moneys received for the
instruction of such pupils shall be paid by the superintendents
to the register of Frederick, and constitute a part of the school
fund of the city.
306. That portion of the school fund of Frederick county,
heretofore apportioned to the city of Frederick, except that
portion thereof heretofore given to St. John's benevolent school,
shall be paid annually to the register of the city, for the use of
the free schools of said city.
307. The aldermen and common council of Frederick, may in
their discretion, levy annually upon the assessable property of
said city, such sum as they deem sufficient, in addition to the
other money applicable to the purpose, to support the free
schools of the said city, but no such levy shall exceed in any one
year the sum of three cents on every hundred dollars' worth of
real and personal property in said city, according to the valua-
tion thereof, made by the corporation.; and the said tax shall be
collected and paid to the register of said city.
308. The said superintendents, upon the trustees of St. John's
benevolent school reporting to them the number of white minors,
resident within the taxable limits of Frederick, gratuitously
educated at said school, shall pay to the said trustees a portion
of the money raised for the support of schools in said city, equal
to the amount paid for the education of the same number of
charity pupils who may bo educated at any other free school in
Frederick; and the superintendents shall make a return to the
