247. The citizens of the Point of Bocks, in Frederick county,
are a body corporate by the name of " The, Burgess and Oom-
misBi oners of the Point of Bocks," and by that name may sue
and be sued, and may have and use a common seal.
248. The limits of said town for all purposes except taxation,
by the laws of the corporation, shall be as follows:-Commencing
at the Kanawha Spring at the margin of the Potomac River,
and with said river westerly one mile; thence in. a northerly
direction with the Catoctin Mountain three-fourths of a mile,
and thence with a straight line to the place of beginning; and
the taxable limits of said town shall include all that part of the
town now improved, or which the citizens may at any time here-
after improve. . ,
249. The free white male citizens of the Point of Bocks, of
the age of twenty-one years and upwards, who have resided
in said town for six month's next preceding the election, shall,
on the first Monday in April in each year, at such place as shall
be designated by the burgess and commissioners, elect a burgess
and three commissioners, who shall have resided within the
limits of said town for three months next preceding the election,
and who shall each be a tax payer in said town, and upwards
of twenty-one years of age.
250. All elections shall be held and conducted as shall from
time to time be directed by the ordinances of the corporation,
not inconsistent with the provisions of this charter.
251. If, during the year for which they were elected, the bur-
gess or any of said commissioners shall die, resign, remove from
said. town, or be otherwise disqualified, an election to fill the
vacancy shall be held, and all persons qualified to vote at the
regular shall be entitled to vote at such special election.
252. The burgess shall, before entering upon the duties of his
office, qualify as required by section 6 of article sixty-eight of the
code; and each commissioner shall, before he acts as such, before
the said bargees make oath that he will faithfully and honestly, to
the bast of his skill and judgment, exercise the powers given
and discharge the duties required of him as commissioner of the
