first five days of their session the general state of the city, with
an accurate account of the money received and expended.
108. He shall annually, in the month of January, publish
in the several newspapers of said city a full and particular
statement of all receipts and disbursements, the salaries and
per diem of all officers of the corporation, and all extra al-
lowances that may have been allowed to any officer of the
corporation, and the services or consideration of such extra
allowance.
110. The aldermen and common council may pass all laws
and ordinances necessary to preserve the health of the city;
prevent and remove nuisances; to prevent the introduction
of contagious diseases within the city and within three miles
thereof; to establish night watches and patrols and erect
lamps; to establish new streets, lanes and alleys with the
consent of a majority of the proprietors of the lots or houses
adjoining such streets, lanes or alleys; to erect and repair
bridges; to pave and keep in repair all necessary drains and
sewers, and to pass all necessary regulations for the preserva-
tion of the same.
111. They may pass ordinances to regulate and fix the assize
of bread; to provide for the appointment and define the duties
of market masters, gangers, wood corders, hay weighers and
inspectors, and to provide for the safe keeping and preservation
of the standards of weights and measures, and for the regu-
lating thereby all weights and measures used in said town.
112. They may provide by ordinance for the regulation of
party walls and partition fences; to erect and regulate mar-
kets; to provide for licensing and regulating the sweeping
and'burning of chimneys, and fixing the rates thereof, within
said city, and for ascertaining the size of chimneys built therein.
118. They may establish and regulate fire wards and fire
companies; regulate and establish the size of bricks used in
said city; and erect and regulate pumps in the streets, lanes
and alleys.
114. They may restrain and prohibit gaming, and provide for
licensing, regulating or restraining theatrical or other public
amoaements within the limits of the corporation.
