16. They shall allow such overseer or keeper such salary or
compensation for his services as they shall deem reasonable.

17. They shall require such overseer or beeper, before entering
upon the discharge of his duties, to enter into a bond with se-
curity by them approved, payable to the trustees, in the penalty
of one thousand dollars, conditioned as follows, to wit: The con-
dition of the above obligation is such, that if the above bound
A. B., as overseer or keeper of the alms or poor house in Frede-
rick county, and manager of the farm connected therewith, shall
well and truly discharge his duties in said station, then the above
obligation to bo void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue
in law."

18. They shall, at their first meeting in February, in each year,
appoint one of their own members treasurer of the trustees for
the poor, who shall collect and receive all moneys appropriated
for the use and benefit of the alms-house, by the county commis-
sioners, and all sums of money arising from the sale of the pro-
duce raised on the farm connected with the alms-house, or duo
and coming to the trustees from any other source.

19. The said treasurer, before entering upon the discharge of
his duties, shall execute a bond payable to the trustees for the
poor, with sufficient securities approved by them in the penal
sum of six thousand dollars, conditioned as follows, to wit: "The
Condition of the above obligation is such, that if the above bound
A. B. shall well and faithfully discharge the duties of treasurer
of the trustees for the poor, and shall well and faithfully account
for all moneys that shall come into his hands as treasurer, and
pay over the said moneys to the person or persons legally
authorized to receive the same, then the above obligation to be
void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue in law."

20. The said treasurer shall not pay out any of the funds that
shall come into his hands, unless upon the written order of the
overseer or keeper of said alms-house, by order of the trustees
for the poor, or to his successor in office, by order of the succeed-
ing trustees, and he shall produce before the trustees for the poor,
to be examined by them at every meeting they shall hold, his
book of accounts.

21. He shall render to the trustees, at their last meeting during
each year, a statement of his accounts, under oath, and all
