7. The trustees so appointed and qualified are a body politic,
with power to sue and be sued, by the name of " Trustees for the
Poor-of Frederick county," and by that name may take, hold and
enjoy any gift, donation or present which may be given, devised
or bequeathed to them for the support and maintenance of the
poor in said county.
8. They shall have power to purchase, take and hold any lands,
tenements or hereditaments not exceeding the yearly value of
twenty-five hundred dollars,
9. They may use a common seal, and the same at their pleasure
may change and alter.
10. They shall have power to make such laws, orders and rules
for the better relieving, regulating and setting the poor to work,
and punishing vagrants, beggars, vagabonds and other offenders,
and for the good government of the alms-house in said county, as
to them shall seem proper.
11. They shall purchase for the use and employment of the
inmates of said alms-house, sufficient beds, bedding, working
tools, kitchen utensils, cows, horses and other necessaries,
and shall keep a regular account of all moneys expended by
them.
12. All meetings of said trustees shall be held at the alms-
houae of said county, except such meetings as may be necessary
for the settlement of their accounts with the county commis-
sioners.
13. They shall meet on the first Monday of February in each
year, and as much oftener as they may deem necessary.
14. They shall at their annual meeting in February appoint
some suitable person to be overseer or keeper of the alms-house,
and manager of the farm connected therewith, from the first
Monday of April then next succeeding.
15. They may remove such overseer or keeper at their dis-
cretion, and appoint another in his place at any time during the
year, whenever in their judgment the interests of the county
may require it.
