13. They shall require the overseer to give bond with good
and sufficient securities in the penalty of five hundred dollars,
payable to them, conditioned for the faithful discharge of his
duties as such overseer.

14. The overseer shall keep a fair and regular list of all poor,
vagrants, beggars, vagabonds and other offenders committed to
the alms-house, and accounts of all materials and other things
that may come to his hands as overseer, and of all expenses and
charges attending the maintenance and support of the inmates
of the alms-house, and of all moneys received by him for the
sale of the produce of their labor, and shall render the same,
under oath, to be administered by 'one of the trustees, to the
trustees at their regular meeting, or oftener if required.

15. He may compel any of the inmates of said alms-house, if
of sufficient ability, to work and labor, and shall account for the
produce of their labor.

16. Upon complaint being made to any justice of the peace
against any person, and upon his being satisfied, upon hearing
the party, that the complaint is well founded, and that the
person, from his disorderly conduct, gives disturbance to a
neighborhood, and is likely to become chargeable to the county,
he may commit such disorderly person to the alms-house for
any time not exceeding three months, unless he shall find
security, at the discretion of the justice, in any sum not exceed-
ing twenty-five dollars, for his good behavior during the space of
six months.

17. Upon complaint and due proof made by the overseer of
the alms-house, to any one trustee, that any person therein hath
behaved himself in a disorderly manner, or hath refused or
neglected to perform his daily labor and task, or hath disobeyed
or broken any of the rules and by-laws of the said corporation,'
the said trustee may order and direct such moderate and proper
correction, not exceeding ten lashes for any one offence, to be
given to auch offender.

18. Any one of the trustees may, under his hand in writing,
appoint what poor shall be received into said alms-house.

19. Any justice of the peace of the county, or person author-
ized and appointed by him, may apprehend and commit to the
