777. The said battalion shall be separate from and inde-
pendent of any and all other military organization or com-
mands in the State, and shall be subject solely to the direct call
of the regularly constituted civil authorities, for the suppression
of insurrection or riot, the repelling of invasion, or the enforce-
ment of the execution of the laws according to the provisions of
the Constitution and laws of the State.

778. The said battalion shall fix certain days, not less than
four in number, upon which, in each year, and at such hours
and places as may be specified, it shall meet for parade and
militia exercise, and the battalion may change the said day and
place, from time to time.

779. Each company of said battalion which shall make such
parades with not less than thirty men rank and file, shall be
entitled to the same annual appropriation which may be voted
to the volunteer companies, not of the battalion, by the city of
Baltimore, and the companies of said battalion shall be entitled
to the same immunities and privileges now enjoyed by, or that
may hereafter be granted to, any military organization.

780. The said battalion may receive, in addition to its com-
plement of officers and men, one hundred contributing or
honorary members, each of whom, upon the payment of ten
dollars annually, shall be entitled to all the privileges and
exemptions granted to the officers and men of the first light
division of Maryland volunteers, and to the honorary or con-
tributing members of the Eagle Artillery company of Balti-
more.

781. The said Baltimore City Guard is excepted from the
operation of the laws providing for a general military organ-
ization.

MOBTOAOES.

782. In all cases of conveyances of lands or hereditaments,
or of chattels real situated in the said city, wherein the mort-
gagor shall declare his assent to the passing of a decree for the
sale of the mortgaged premises, it shall be lawful for the mort-
gagees or their assigns, at any time after filing the same to be
recorded, to submit to the Superior Court of Baltimore city, or
the Circuit Court for said city, the said conveyances or copies
under seal of said court thereof, and the said court may there-
