brigade courts of appeal respectively, before or during the sit-
ting of the same, the brigadier general of his regiment if absent,
and also such of his staff officers as are absent from the division
review, and the senior officer in rank on parade shall, in like
manner, ascertain and report the major general if absent, and
also such of his staff officers as are absent from said review, to
the brigade court of appeals of the third brigade; and each of
said courts shall have power to remit such fines as may have
boon incurred by the said officers, respectively, for absence from
said parade, under the same conditions as are prescribed by this
article for other officers; and if any officer shall neglect or refuse
to comply with any of the provisions of this section as required
of him, he shall bo fined a sum not exceeding fifty dollars, in the
discretion of such court martial as the case may require.

672. If any general, whose duty it shall be to attend, shall
refuse or neglect to attend any of the meetings appointed and
prescribed by this article, he shall forfeit the sum of fifty dollars.

673. If any regimental field officer, or division or brigade staff
officer, whose duty it shall be to attend, shall refuse or neglect
to attend any of the said meetings, he shall forfeit the sum of
twenty dollars.

674. If any company or regimental staff officer, whose duty
it shall be to attend, shall refuse or neglect to attend any of said
meetings, he shall forfeit the sum of five dollars.

675. If any non-commissioned officer, private or musician,
whose duty it shall be to attend, shall refuse or neglect to attend
any of said meetings, he shall forfeit the sum of two dollars.

676. The commanding officer of each regiment shall, within
six days after each parade as directed by this article, appoint the
court of appeals, which shall have power to remit the whole or
part of such fine or fines as may have been incurred by such com-
pany officers, non-commissioned officers, privates and musicians
of his regiment as were absent from such parade, upon its
appearing to said court of appeals that sickness or some such
sufficient excuse was the cause of such absence; Provided, that
business is not admitted as a, cause of acquittance.

677. The courts of appeal to decide upon the remission of
fines incurred by company officers, non-commissioned officers,
