oath that he will honestly and faithfully discharge the duties of
said office.

442. No person engaged in the manufacturing, vending or
trading in lime, individually or as a partner, or as agent, clerk
or employee of a manufacturer, vendor or trader in lime, shall
be entitled to a license to act as inspector of lime.

443. Any person may sell, export or otherwise dispose of lime
without having the same measured and inspected by a licensed
inspector, but in all cases of difference between the buyer and
seller as to the quantity, quality or measurement, either party
may call in an inspector, and his judgment shall bind the parties.

444. The said inspector, upon request, shall measure and in-
spect any lime in said city, either in bulk or in casks; and if in
bulk, he shall give the party at whose request the inspection is
made a certificate of the quantity thereof, and also of its quality,
that is, whether it is first, second or third quality; and if in
casks, he shall mark the same with a legible mark, designating
the quality and the quantity of lime they severally contain.

445. The measure used by inspectors of lime shall be the Win-
chester bushel, containing twenty-one hundred and fifty cubic
inches.

446. Each inspector shall be entitled to three-fourths of a cent

per bushel for all lime inspected and measured by him in bulk,
and six cents for every barrel, and twelve cents for every hogs-
head, inspected, measured and branded.

447. All lime which in the judgment of the inspector is below
the standard of third quality, shall be condemned, and shall be
thus mentioned in the certificate of the inspector, or branded or
marked on the cask by him.

448. If any wagon driver, owner or agent, shall make use of
any device in loading his wagon or other carriage, or in selling
barrels, hogsheads or other casks, or shall, after obtaining a cer-
tificate, suffer any part of his load to be disposed of or diminished,
and then sell or offer to sell the remainder for the quantity men-
tioned in the certificate, or shall exchange his certificate for any
other of a greater quantity or better quality, he shall forfeit and
pay for every such offence ten dollars.
